What Is Food Insecurity

The Chester County Food Bank broadly defines food insecurity as "a household that is without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious and culturally appropriate food at any given time." Food security, as you might imagine, is the opposite, "a household that has reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious and culturally appropriate food at any given time. "Though Chester County is the wealthiest county in Pennsylvania, food insecurity remains a serious issue for many of our residents and lies at the heart of CCFB's mission  to mobilize our community to ensure access to real, healthy food.

The Need

Hunger has many different faces. Women, children, mothers, fathers, infants and the elderly. Hunger doesn't discriminate. It doesn't care where you live or what you look like. Many hard working people living week to week are just a paycheck away from needing help. No one should ever go hungry but many people do. That's why we do what we do. We are a 100% volunteer organization dedicated to feeding hunger.

Help us help others. Please support your local food cupboard.

Hunger Doesn't Take A Rest

Our Mission

The sole mission of the Octorara Area Food Cupboard is to provide food support to qualifying individuals and families in the greater Octorara area.

Get Involved

Hunger isn't seasonal, which is why we need donations year-round. Conduct a Food Drive at work or in your neighborhood. We can provide helpful tips to make your food drive a success.
